similar to our start at home last season - then, jenkinson and cresswell were over run and leicester & bournemouth put 3 and 4 past us.

more concern this year due to the pile of unproven premiership tat that has been signed. the owners & vilic knew full well where the issues would be pre window closing.

noble needs an inform song type player next to him otherwise we will get battered again next week.

need sakho back too- no choice now but to tell him how great he is until the next window.

We conceded the most goals in the league from individual errors and are at it again this season.

Collins is costing us every game he's playing at the moment.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Collins has cost goals against Chelsea, lost Costa(even go back to the Juventus game and ironically he lost Zaza for the winner as well) got turned and cost the equaliser against Gogglie Huglia, the romanians, noweher to be seen against City for their second, mind you neither was Reid or anyone in defence come to that and then his crowning glory Saturday. Once again hitting meaningless 60 yard balls whenevre he got it and as for defending, well he just didn't did he. Looking his age and yet we had an Italian International on the bench.

Then Adian, ffs, what has happened to him all of a sudden. I wasn't convinced at his positioning for the Costa goal and the Sterling goal looked soft but fuck me my old mum could have had a better stab at the th one on Saturday. Bilic got one thing right on Saturday, if we continue to defend indiviually like that, never mind the defensive midfielder doing a job, then we will not win many matches this season.

And as everyone said Pulis must be thanking his lucky stars that his next match when he is under so much pressure is against us

i would drop Collins, Noble and Lanzini for Obiang, Oxford and Fehgouli or if not fit the lad Fernandes purely on the basis that they cannot surely do any worse

btw I think Bournemouth had more shots on target than us last home game so this has been on the cards.

Bilic has really pissed me off this season He stubborness regarding Antonio at RB cost us a point against Chelsea and now playing Collins instead of Ogbonna. Read needs a kick up the arse as well.

I not wetting my knickers yet but we have only a few games to turn this around or the confidence falls and Bilic will feel the pressure.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
There are 3 obvious weak links in this team that being Byram, Collins and the sacred cow who no one wants to mention - Noble

Against a fast mobile counter attacking team he's too slow

Byram might be coached better but Ogbonna and Obiang in

For those old buffers loke me, I knew the Adrian & Collins combo reminded me of something!

Ferguson & Cushley, that was it

Sterling's goal at Citeh & at least a couple over the weekend were very reminicent of that pair

Too many attack minded players in midfield seemed to me from the teamsheet. Byram also looks to get forward. Bilic has overcompensated for what was perceived as lack of creativity and attacking edge with quantity not quality I suspect :-(

Fine if they are all workers that get back but you also need at least one defensive minded midfielder with legs and a good engine and good technique. The Kante role is the one we and many teams are looking for. Its the first thing Conte did at Chelsea, Pep has made Fernandino his lynchpin at City.

We have Nordveit or Obiang. Both not mobile enough I suspect and not the engines we need but on Saturday that role was not deemed necessary by Slav as we were at home. We are too gung ho.

I was travelling so missed the game but was not totally surprised that a team with movement playing on the counter exposed our defensive setup

Pulis probably said to his staff after Saturday "Thank fuck we're playing West Ham next week".

B6NY,

Manager under pressure - Check
Side desperate for a result - Check
Can't score for toffee - Check
Fans about to turn - Check

Don't worry, they're playing West Ham next. No worries. We're everyone's go-to club when they need a result.

WBA fans turned on Pulis on Saturday, proper gave him a cunting.

Could be our saving grace on Saturday if we start well.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Most of what i think about saturday has been said elsewhere, however the abiding thought is we gave up at the fourth goal.

There was still half an hour of the match to go, but we stopped working and started playing like a conference team. Im nit sure gomez made a save second half, unless you call clutching balls out of the air, a save? There's was plenty of time to go back at them but we just went into ourselves and created nothing of note.

We are so exposed at the DM role - and Norveit isnt much cop based upon evidence so far- teams will overrun us.

Finally the subs were disappointing and made no difference- Calleri looks way out of his depth - and I have the feeling he may never actually score for us - the idea that some how "throwing him on ti mix it up " was the answer was straight out of the sunday pub managers guide.

Not a lot to feel positive about, in other words!

Pretty well said, and gave me just a glimmer of hope in the dark depression I've had since half time yesterday.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Only saw highlights so I don't know how Watford did us over in terms of how the play went over the 90.

However, were not a top 4 side so we can have a shocker every now and then so let's not get too worried.

The positives is that we scored twice, so if we are more focused defensively we should win future games. I'm worried when we don't score at all.

This is pretty much the best team we can put out. Maybe putting ogbonna and arbelola in would be the only thing that would change. So this team HAS to work or we are fucked. I'm sure it's just a work rate and concentration thing. I'm glad that the goals were just give away sloppy stuff because they're fixable.

Another issue is that West Ham embarrassed lots of teams last year. So teams will sit back against us and try to press us. They don't want us on the counter attack. So I think we are in a transition period where we have to learn how to play a bit differently.

So I think it may well be a rocky road over the next few months but that's the way the game is. Last season was last season. We've got to graft again otherwise we'll be looking at relegation. It's easy to get carried away with stuff. The tail end of last season we were hanging on.

how was noble? Does he need a rest?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
I think Lard got it right.
It was like the Bournemouth defeat at home last season.Average teams with pace and energy seem to overrun us.If i remember correctly Jenkinson had mare that day as did Byram yesterday. The difference last season was we were beating the so called footballing sides like Arsenal and City.

Yes, I've said that. Bilic is getting this wrong and it's on his shoulders. If we continue like this he won't see November.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Spandex - Surely you realsie that it's a hell of a lot more about picking the team, any man in the street can do that. Changes alone won't fix this, this is where Bilic needs to earn his corn.

Mourinho had Man Utd in this morning, were we in?

Spandex Sidney 3:45 Sun Sep 11
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Plus Bilic, who is ultimately responsible for this shambles since April, needs to get this team into a proper 4231 formation pretty sharpish.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
I don't see the problem, swap Ogbonna for Collins and Obiang for Noble. Obiang will hold a lot better with Kouyate than Noble does and the two of them will protect the CBs much better.

Ogbonna will cover the ground much better than Collins if they ever do get caught out. Arbeloa needs to get match fit asap, we need him.

Noble needs dropping, sorry but he does.
